Phillip Hwee

Phillip (“Phil”) Hwee is an experienced litigator with an extensive insurance background that he developed while working for a large insurance company prior to attending law school and while he represented international and domestic insurers thereafter at renowned large and medium size law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Phil gained deep understanding of and appreciation for litigated matters that implicated insurance policies while representing both defendants and plaintiffs.

Phil has litigated construction defects actions, insurance coverage disputes, breach of contract lawsuits, intellectual property claims, asbestos matters, and personal injury cases. Phil has overseen claims and litigations against directors and officers of major international corporations and claims on fidelity bonds. Phil has worked on responding to subpoenas and document and information requests from law enforcement agencies and federal regulators. Phil has assisted with trial preparations on various actions.
Phil volunteered as a Judge Pro Temp at the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, presiding over small claims and traffic court.

Phil earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco school of law, where he was a law review comments editor. Phil earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. While working for an insurance company, Phil earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (“CPCU”).

Phil is licensed to practice law in the states of California and New York. Phil has lived and worked in California’s San Francisco Bay Area for decades. Phil grew up as a boy in Brooklyn, New York. Phil is also a licensed real estate broker in the states of California and New York.

Phil is an avid runner and loves to travel the world to learn about different people, histories, cultures, and to taste and enjoy different local cuisines, coffees and teas.
