Christian P. Lucia

Christian P. Lucia is a shareholder at Sellar Hazard & Lucia and is based in the Firm’s Walnut Creek, California, office. Mr. Lucia obtained his B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley and his J.D. from Regent University School of Law. For the past 16 years, Mr. Lucia has focused his practice on construction defect defense litigation successfully representing numerous developers, general contractors and subcontractors in complex, multi­-party litigation involving both commercial and residential construction. He has defended general contractors and subcontractors in cases with liability exposure in excess of 50 million dollars. Mr. Lucia has also litigated numerous cases involving environmental claims, toxic tort, personal injury and premises liability.

Mr. Lucia has extensive experience at all levels of litigation. He has represented clients in numerous complex arbitrations and mediations throughout California and has also aggressively and successfully tried cases to verdict in instances where negotiations have proven ineffective. Mr. Lucia has the advantage of “hands­-on” construction experience including over 10 years working in construction and performing all types of work including general labor, running large equipment, demolition, site work, concrete foundation work, framing, window installation, roofing, sheetrock, waterproofing and insulation. His practical experience in the construction field provides him with invaluable insight when defending and prosecuting all types of construction defect claims. In addition to his successful litigation practice, Mr. Lucia currently serves as general counsel for various contractors handling their day-­to-­day business matters, contract negotiations, wage and employment matters, corporate issues and all manner of other litigated as well as non­-litigated legal matters.
